Blue Lagoon Cocktail: An Original Recipe Created in Paris in 1960
The Blue Lagoon, also called the Blue Lagoon by translation, is a cocktail created by Andy MacElhone in 1960 at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris. The son of the founder of this bar wanted to pay homage to the White Lady, a cocktail signed by his father, by replacing triple sec with blue curaçao and gin with vodka. The result is as beautiful as it is delicious! We discover variations a little later with orange juice or lime juice instead of lemon juice for more pep and fruity flavors.
The making of this cocktail is really very simple! Traditionally prepared in a shaker, you can however pour all the ingredients into a glass and mix with a spoon if you don’t have the equipment of a mixologist at home. We decided to add a touch of glitter for an even more impressive visual effect. Think to rim your glass to elevate your cocktail and to enjoy colorful aperitifs (but of course with moderation)!
To make this recipe, follow the steps below:
BLUE LAGOON COCKTAIL 🍸💙
For 1 glass
Ingredients:
– 40 ml vodka
– 20 ml blue curaçao
– 20 ml lemon juice or lime juice
– Ice cubes
– Mint
– A splash of lemonade
For decoration :
– 20 ml blue curaçao
– 20 g powdered sugar
– 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
– A pinch of edible glitter (optional)
Preparation:
1. Decorate the glass: dip the rims in blue curaçao, then in granulated sugar to frost the glass. Fill with ice.
2. Pour in the vodka, the blue curaçao and the lemon juice. Top up with lemonade, mix and then add a pinch of edible glitter and stir again.
3. Add a small bouquet of mint and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately!
