Today, we’re going to show you how to make a croque-madame in under 10 minutes in the air fryer.
The recipe is super easy and quick to improvise for a light dinner with a green salad on the side, for example. Let’s go!
The express croque-madame revisited on a single level
We know it: we don’t always have time to spend hours at the stove after a long day of work or school. Yet, it is really very easy and quick to prepare express and gourmet homemade recipes without having to buy ready-made meals. Tonight, we prove it with our revisited croque-madame recipe! It’s perfect whether you’re solo, as a couple, or for the whole family.
Our trick for properly cooking the eggs is to do two cookings: first only the white, then a quicker second with the yolk and the rest of the filling (ham and grated cheese). This version is lighter because there is only one layer compared to the traditional recipe (which is nothing but a classic croque-monsieur with a fried egg on top). There’s nothing complicated to enjoy! We serve this express croque-madame with a green salad or a soup for a complete and balanced dinner.
Can we make changes to the recipe?
Of course! You can vary the fillings with whatever you have at home. White ham, cured ham, salmon, chorizo, vegetables, cheese… Treat yourself as you like, it’s a recipe perfect for finishing leftovers in particular. And if you don’t have an egg, then it will be a croque-monsieur on a single layer revisited (or a tartine in the end, call it what you like 😉).
Don’t hesitate to season with a bit of paprika, chili pepper, or fresh herbs to give your creation new flavors. And above all, enjoy!
To make this recipe, follow the steps below :
EXPRESS CROQUE-MADAME 🍳😋
Serves 4
Ingredients :
– 4 thick slices of sandwich bread
– 4 eggs
– Butter
– Grated mozzarella
– Ham
– Salt, pepper
Preparation :
1. Place the slices of sandwich bread in the air fryer basket (or on a baking sheet) and form a hollow in the center by flattening with a spoon.
2. Separate the whites from the yolks and pour the white into the hollow of the bread and keep the yolk in place, taking care not to pierce it.
3. Salt and pepper the egg white and brush the edges of the bread with melted butter. Bake at 170°C for 8 minutes to cook the egg white.
4. Add the ham cut into pieces and the grated mozzarella along the edges, then pour the yolks delicately into the center of the croque-madame.
5. Bake again for 3 minutes at 190°C. Serve immediately !
