Mandarins, Condensed Milk, and Chocolate? Quick Ice Cream Served Directly in the Fruit

The Quick Recipe for Mandarin Ice Cream Inside a Mandarin (with its Chocolate-Crunch Shell)

After having made crème brûlée in fruits, here is a fresh and original way to present a dessert directly inside a fruit! For this express mandarin ice cream, you will only need three ingredients: mandarins (no surprises), sweetened condensed milk, and melted chocolate. It’s truly super easy and fast because we will simply blend frozen mandarin segments with the condensed milk, then generously fill our emptied mandarin shells with this creamy, icy preparation. Then, we cover with a beautiful layer of melted chocolate for that crunchy touch when tasting!

So, are you salivating in advance too? This quick ice cream is ideal to finish a meal in a refined and original way without skimping on indulgence! And of course you can recreate the recipe with the fruit of your choice, but we, we love this mandarin and chocolate version…

To make this recipe, follow the steps below:

MANDARIN AND CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM 🍊🍫

Serves 4

Ingredients :

– 4 large firm mandarins
– 4 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
– 200 g dark or milk chocolate
– A few kumquats
– A few fresh mint leaves

Preparation :

1. Gently cut off the tops of the mandarins, then hollow them out with a spoon without piercing the skin to retrieve the segments.

2. Set the empty shells aside in the freezer.

3. Separate the mandarins segments, remove the white pith and seeds if necessary. Lay them flat on a tray and place in the freezer for at least 3 hours.

4. When the mandarins are well frozen, place them in the bowl of a blender with the condensed milk and blend until a creamy texture is achieved.

5. Immediately fill the emptied mandarin shells with the ice cream and smooth the surface. Pour a little melted chocolate over the top to form a crunchy shell. Garnish with a slice of kumquat and a mint leaf.

6. Serve immediately or put back in the freezer until serving time!
