Vips Celebrates Caldo Tlalpeño Day on October 14 at Tlalpan Center

Vips, the largest family restaurant in Mexico, celebrated Caldo Tlalpeño Day after announcing in 2025 that October 14 would be the date to recognize the history, tradition, and flavor of this dish representative of the national gastronomy. This year, the commemoration took place in Tlalpan, the place that gave origin to this recipe considered a Mexican treasure.

As part of the celebration, the brand’s guests will be able to enjoy Caldo Tlalpeño Grande at a special price of 89 pesos, from October 12 to 18, at all Vips locations nationwide, for dine-in and home delivery service.

To commemorate its origin, Vips gathered at Plaza del Bolero, in the center of Tlalpan, different voices to discuss the history and cultural relevance of this dish. The gathering featured Ammy Bañuelos, Director of Tourism and International Liaison of the Tlalpan Municipality; Tere Suárez, historian of the Tlalpan Municipality; and Edgar Salgado, Chief Executive Officer of Vips.

During his remarks, Edgar Salgado shared the relevance that Caldo Tlalpeño has for Vips and the brand’s purpose of continuing to promote this date, “we are excited to continue promoting October 14 as a date to recognize Caldo Tlalpeño and share with more people the history and tradition behind this dish. This year we brought the celebration to its place of origin, Tlalpan, committed to elevating and preserving our traditions and making our guests feel at home.”

The conversation also allowed understanding the relevance of Caldo Tlalpeño from its place of origin. Ammy Bañuelos shared the importance of highlighting the cultural and gastronomic contributions of Tlalpan and Mexico City to the country, while Tere Suárez traced the history of the dish and highlighted the value of preserving its legacy.

The staying power of this Classic is also reflected in the guests’ preference. In just the last year, Vips sold more than 1.5 million Caldos Tlalpeños in its restaurants nationwide.

For more than six decades, Vips has been part of the lives of Mexican families and today counts more than 230 restaurants and more than 7,000 collaborators, who day by day provide the highest quality service, in addition to offering iconic recipes to guests who visit its restaurants.

As the Heart of Mexico, the brand has built a space where its guests can share moments of connection and enjoy alongside their loved ones around the table. It is in this way that different generations have lived the culinary richness of our country through its Classics, such as molletes, enchiladas suizas, enfrijoladas and of course the iconic Caldo Tlalpeño.
