The Winter Spritz That Will Impress Your Guests
Traditionally, a spritz is sipped more in the summer season, but this cocktail can also be adapted for winter with blood orange juice. More acidic and intense, blood oranges are available from December through March, and it’s perfect for making a winter spritz (with moderation, of course). This cocktail is really very easy to prepare to impress your guests at aperitif time.
We recommend squeezing the blood oranges yourself for a more pronounced flavor in your drink. And for those who do not drink alcohol (or simply want to enjoy a cocktail without moderation), find our best ideas for mocktails that are easy and quick to make to shake up fruit juices or overly sweet drinks.

How to Make a Perfect Spritz? The 9, 6, 3 Rule
Do you know the origin of the spritz? If you thought it was an Italian cocktail, think again… Indeed, even though it was born in Italy, in Venice more precisely in the 19th century, it was the Austrians who developed the recipe! And yes, while they occupied the city and did not like the dry taste of Veneto wines, they diluted them with sparkling water. The spritz was born! In German, its name actually means “splash/spritz.” A little anecdote to share without moderation to shine at your next aperitif!
But anyway, back to the recipe. To nail a spritz every time, there is only one rule to follow: the 9-6-3 rule. Here’s how it works: count 9 parts Prosecco, 6 parts Aperol, and 3 parts sparkling water. Don’t forget ice in large quantities and a slice of orange for garnish. It’s as simple as that! This recipe can be varied in a thousand and one ways by replacing Aperol with another liqueur or with freshly pressed fruit juice, such as blood orange, for example…
