As a heatwave sweeps across all of France, Burger King is launching a weather-related promotional operation: ice creams and drinks are priced at 1 euro during the heatwave.
It is extremely hot all across France and now every means to refresh itself is welcome. Some people will swim in pools, in lakes or in the Canal Saint-Martin where swimming is now allowed in Paris. The French are also flocking to stores to buy fans and air conditioners, to such an extent that they are sold out.

The fast-food chain launched a nationwide promotional operation during the heatwave. The principle is simple: the hotter it gets, the lower the prices for fresh products at Burger King. To announce the news, the chain hijacked the codes of weather bulletins.
In departments under orange heatwave vigilance, customers can buy a sundae or a medium-sized drink for only 1.50 euro. When the department shifts to red heatwave vigilance, the price drops even further and the products are offered at 1 euro.

On Thursday, June 25, 72 departments were moved to red heatwave alert and 17 were in orange alert. Burger King’s promotion, announced on social media, sparked a lot of reactions from internet users, who were delighted.
